I am writing this review on behalf of my parents, who entered into a contract with Virginia Bartnicki of Hardwood Kennels located in Capac, MI. They were one week away from bringing their new puppy home, but were informed just last night that the breeder was backing out. They are devastated. My parents had previously purchased a puppy from Virginia several years ago. He unfortunately passed away this summer. Since they had had such a great experience, they went back to Virginia to inquire about a new puppy. Virginia wasnt sure she was going to breed again, but she did. Unfortunately, there were only two puppies in the litter, and only one survived. Since the surviving puppy was a male, a customer backed out and my parents were ecstatic to find out they would soon be welcoming this new puppy to their home. In the following weeks, they visited Virginia several times bringing toys, clothing with their scent, and even their granddaughter, noting each visit with photos and videos. They have prepped their home, altered their work schedules, and had plans to bring him home a week from tomorrow. However, last night, Virginia contacted them and said she was backing out. Virginia has apparently decided that she cannot bear to part with the puppy and is going to sell him to someone who will act as co-owner so she can stud him out and possibly show him. Yes, she is going to refund their deposit, but that doesnt replace the puppy they had grown attached to and agreed to purchase fairly. My family has purchased three puppies, and adopted a senior dog from Virginia in the past. This behavior is disappointing and unacceptable.
