Hunting Dog Breeds Raised: Mountain Cur

5 pup litter - 3 males, 2 females with beautiful brindle coats born August 7, 2018 from excellent 2 yr. old squirrel hunting parents located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. $200 per pup. Will be weened and ready to go by September 18. Dam (Sheba) from coon hunting Minnesota breeder. Sire (Buckwheat) from North Carolina squirrel hunting breeder. No papers on either parent, but 2 excellent hunters with great noses, tenacious drive to hunt, great treeing ability, endurance, speed, courage, and intelligence. If you read the novel "Where the Red Fern Grows"...those are the personality traits of my dogs. If you are unfamiliar with this breed, check this link: http://www.omcba.com
Great hunters on almost any game, squirrel, rabbit, coon, coyote, bear, hog, bobcat, etc...While hunting, my dogs venture 100 to 200 yds off searching for scent or a visual of game, but return to check in every 5-15 minutes.
When game is sighted or treed, you will know! Nice loud choppy bark. Sire will stay on tree until I show up. Dam will do same only after she is certain game is still there. She will scour area for scent first, then return to tree and bark. Both have great vision and know how to sight hunt and look up. Treeing ability is not a trainable talent. Dogs are born with it...or without it. Offspring are not gauranteed to inherit this trait, but since both parents possess treeing ability, it ups the odds these pups will considerably.
Sheba is the fastest dog I've seen next to a greyhound. She's caught 6 rabbits and 1 coon on her own. Sire is fearless....he hates coyotes and cats. Do not buy a Mountain Cur if you own a cat! (Or a coyote.)
On a farm/ranch, they will patrol your property, always to return home, unlike hounds that can wander for days. Parents are outstanding gaurd dogs and let us know when strangers, or friends arrive. Although known to defend their masters with thier lives if necessary, mine are the sweetest, loving animals without a hint of viciousness. Both parents spend much of the day curled up on our couch getting a belly scratch now and then. Only problem is during summer when they see a squirrel outside. (I've had to replace the window screen a few times!)
